Educational Programming Guide

About our programs:

Traveling programs at your location:

Though not preferred (there are so many more cool things to see at PSSWF!), we can provide educational programming at your location. In general, we will go within an hour of Silt for programming, but can potentially travel farther for an additional fee.

Traveling programs can include:

  • 30 - 60 minutes of programming, can potentially go longer if needed

  • A powerpoint and poster-based presentation covering basics about our organization, what to do when you find baby/orphaned wildlife, and basic raptor or other wildlife ID

  • Discussion of native Colorado wildlife biology using replica skulls, pawprint casts, and more

  • Live animal presentation, potentially including kestrel falcon, raven, crow, turtles, small tortoises, large tortoises

  • Or a custom program! If you want to see something in particular, please contact us! With enough notice, we can often tailor a program to a particular subject.

Onsite programming at PSSWF

Onsite programs at PSSWF include:

  • 60 - 90 minutes of programming, can sometimes go shorter or longer depending on the size of the group

  • Time in our classroom with a powerpoint and poster-based presentation covering basics about our organization, what to do when you find baby/orphaned wildlife, and basic raptor or other wildlife ID

  • Discussion of native Colorado wildlife biology using replica skulls, pawprint casts, and more

  • Tour of our resident animals, including information about their stories and biology of their species. Animals included: wolf hybrids, arctic fox, bobcats, pot-bellied pigs, large and small tortoises (which can be handled), turtles, crow, raven, kestrel falcon, red-tailed hawk. Note: the ONLY animals on the tour are resident animals with our facility. Animals in rehabilitation, including bears and mountain lions, are not allowed to be seen by the general public.

  • Or a custom program! If you want to see something in particular, please contact us! With enough notice, we can often tailor a program to a particular subject.

Things you should know:

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days for us to do programs, but we can potentially make it work on another day.

  • Our facility is small. To maximize the ability to share information with everybody, we have a single program limit of 35-40 people. If your group is larger than this, we may be able to accommodate by adding additional programming, scheduling on multiple days, etc.

  • Parking at PSSWF is limited. We have parking for buses, vans, and multiple vehicles available about a block away from our educational location.

  • We are unable to accommodate groups eating lunch at our facility. There are some fantastic parks just a few minutes away if your group needs this option.

  • Drinking water is not available, please bring your own water.

  • Bathrooms and handwashing are limited (though hand sanitizer is provided after every program). If you have a very large group, please plan to for students to use facilities elsewhere, especially if they need to wash hands prior to eating.

  • Up to one supervisory adult/chaperone per 10 children is included in our rate. Additional parents or adults are $20 each. Chaperones are expected to contribute in supervising the children and assuring they are following the rules and being safe.

  • Unfortunately, unless explicitly agreed ahead of time, we cannot accommodate siblings or other children outside of the original class or group.
